LowSpec AI

Newsletter

One email a month about running useful AI on hardware that most people would call scrap. No GPU talk, no $3,000 build lists, no "just rent an A100".

What is in each issue

  • One tool, measured. The same numbers that go on the tool pages: tokens per second, RAM at rest, cold-start time, and what breaks first. Taken on the reference machine — a 2-core 2011 laptop board with 8 GB of RAM, running as a NAS — not on a vendor benchmark.
  • One hardware note. Something about the boxes people actually have around: an old ThinkPad, a two-bay NAS, a mini PC with a Celeron in it. What it does well, what it cannot do, and what is worth spending money on.
  • Corrections. When a page here turns out to be wrong, the fix is described in the open rather than quietly edited.

Cadence and honesty

Roughly monthly. Less often when there is nothing worth reporting — a newsletter that arrives to say "we posted three pages" is worse than silence. There are no sponsored issues and no paid placements in the send; if that ever changes, it will be labelled in the issue itself.

Your address

Used for one thing: sending you that email. It is not sold, not shared with a "partner", not fed into an audience for someone else's product. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe, and the address is deleted when you click it.

Add your address below if that sounds worth reading. If you would rather not sign a list, write to 352312766@qq.com and the same emails can arrive as ordinary mail.

One click to unsubscribe, and the list is never sold or shared.

One email a month: what actually ran, and what didn't

Low-spec benchmarks, RAM floors and the tools we had to give up on. No sponsored spam, unsubscribe in one click.
